I was at the ByWard Market in Ottawa last Thursday afternoon and the place was hopping! I was truly surprised to find out how large, how many blocks, lanes and courtyards are comprised in the ByWard : 400 + shops, cafes, restaurants, craft vendors, produce vendors, clubs and services.
Did you know the ByWard Market is one of the largest and oldest public markets in Canada? It was founded by Lt. Col. John By in 1826, not too long after the end of the 1812 war.
