The docks in Rideau Ferry rocked with music today, but also with the wakes of boats arriving for this eve of Canada Day celebration. Mid-afternoon, Rock The Dock visitors had swelled in numbers–on the water, on CC’s grounds, on the docks and under the bridge.

Five bands performed including The Doherty Brothers, Basic White, Totally Hip, The Continentals and The Ramblers (shown here.)

Despite some of the hottest weather on record–‘feels like 44 degrees,’ the weather channel reports–Rock the Dock rocked. One local reported it was hotter here than in Jamaica!

Everyone seemed to have a cold drink in hand. And when the rain came, we welcomed its cooling effect. Even the roads sizzled and ‘smoked!’

Some were wise and treaded water in the Rideau.

Everyone appeared elated. There wasn’t a smile missing on anyone’s face. This is the Rideau Ferry effect. It is such a popular and charming hamlet on the Rideau.

It was also a perfect summer day with friends.
