Two Downsize For Growth : Dawn Quinn and Lindsey McFadden

I know my headline sounds like a “jumbo shrimp” oxymoron. Humor this writer. Two established women are unwittingly making the same moves. Uncannily, they are neighbors at Davidson Courtyard, Smiths Falls’ most stylish shopping enclave.

They are both downsizing for laser focus on their strengths.

Dawn Quinn, owner of Dawn’s Closet, has downsized her store–twice. This tiny woman has been shrinking her business, but not her plans.

You could say, “Dawn came out of the closet”–literally. She continues to serve endless customers who trust her with their coifs in smaller space. She has a loyal following.

Hair products, toiletries and vintage collectibles are still visible on a few shelves, but the bulk of her inventory is now located in the Gallery 15, an emporium featuring many vendors of vintage artifacts and antiques on Highway 15. It is a busy place on Saturdays.

Quinn has relinquished some of her former space to a newcomer, Autumns Fine Flowers, owned by Lindsey McFadden. The shop has grown–twice–finishing with the addition of a room for floral creations last month.

Autumns carries all manner of gifts and home decor, and, serves wedding and funeral customers with floral designs.
