Corona Beer Takes Huge Hit From Pandemic Hysteria

By Phil Anders for theWedge.LIVE

The progressive corporation that dominates in alcohol beverages, Constellation Brands, is suffering from irrational behavior. It’s bestselling Corona beer is a popular, much loved brand, especially by yours truly.

38% of Americans surveyed (by CNN)  “would not under any circumstances,” buy the beer because of the corona virus. I wonder about this alleged media corporation that tends to wag the dog.

The same survey claims 16%  “were not sure” whether the virus is related to Corona beer. 14% of respondents who regularly drink Corona beer said they would no longer order it in public. Wut?

There seems to be no Canadian equivalent survey.

There is no direct correlation to sales in this survey, but it is fair to assume there is a corollary drop.

Constellation is the same corporation that dropped $5 Billion CAD on Canopy Growth, the world’s leading cannabis corporation headed out of Smiths Falls, Ontario.

There has been glitch there too related to their recreational cannabis infused drinks. Products coming off the conveyor belt were halted. But this too will pass.

The sun has a corona (which means crown.) Shall we avoid sunlight? Are people losing their ability to think?

Fear is the new commodity–a great investment it seems. Yet there are only 6 deaths in U.S.

Zero Hedge’s Tyler Durden writes:

Ronn Torossian, Founder and CEO of 5WPR, the public relations firm that conducted the survey said: “There is no question that Corona beer is suffering because of the coronavirus. Could one imagine walking into a bar and saying ‘Hey, can I have a Corona?’ or ‘Pass me A Corona’?”

He continued: “While the brand has claimed that consumers understand there’s no linkage between the virus and the beer company, this is a disaster for the Corona brand. After all, what brand wants to be linked to a virus which is killing people worldwide?”

Constellation brands, brewer of the beer, says the timing couldn’t be worse. They were on the precipice of introducing a new Corona branded hard-seltzer product for the summertime. Promotion for the drink, which uses the phrase “coming ashore soon”, has already been criticized.

I truly cannot believe this illogical behavior. I am more concerned about pandemic mental illness than I am for Constellation.

I continue to drink my Corona Extra without missing a beat.
